The most basic of the sprint drills are the A Walk, A Skip, B Walk, and B Skip. Note the coaching points below.
A-Walk/A-Skip:
Upright posture
High knee lift
Dorsiflexion throughout the movement
Heel first ground contact
Foot stays tucked under the knee, knee angle stays acute
Stance leg heel rises up in coordination with the opposite leg
Lead arm rises up in coordination with the opposite leg
A-Walk/A-Skip:
Upright posture
High knee lift
Dorsiflexion throughout the movement
Heel first ground contact
Foot passively swings out, then is actively drawn back under the center of mass
Stance leg heel rises up in coordination with the opposite leg
Lead arm rises up in coordination with the opposite leg
